Apparently, since February, someone has been messing with Southwest Airlines’ planes. And this is not your typical bored teenager kind of vandalism.
Since February, several Southwest jets have been vandalized with mysterious writings that show up on the underbelly of their 737 passenger aircraft.
The writings — which some have interpreted as being either Arabic or Arabic-type symbols — appeared to have been done with a chemical process that reveals the text once an auxiliary power unit is turned on and heats up the outside skin of the aircraft, according to Feldman.
Uh … dude!
So someone has been using some really advanced graffiti tactics without Southwest knowing about it since February, and we are just learning about it?
Southwest Airlines has ordered its employees not to discuss the matter with the media.
The airline denied this is a safety issue.
Someone has been sneaking around the airport unnoticed, using a chemical etching equivalent of heat powered magic marker on your planes, they’ve been doing it all year, you have no idea what the ‘Arabic-like symbols’ mean, you have no idea who’s been doing it, the TSA and the FBI are involved, and you are trying to tell us there’s no safety issue?
On the other hand, bags fly free. So everything balances out.
