White House Says Campaign Ad Does Not Violate FEC Laws
And they may be right. The critics (myself included) may have to eat crow on this one.

Spakovsky said the critical detail in determining whether the video is legal is location. If it was filmed in the residence, the video is fine, if it was filmed in office space, it’s a violation. Spaces in between are kind of a gray area.
There you go. All we need to do is figure out where it was filmed.
Spakovsky did say the White House claim that Obama didn’t solicit money in the ad, therefore, it was not a violation anyway, is complete hogwash.
