All Eyes On Pelosi As Rep. Weiner Admits He Sent Lewd Photos
Today is the anniversary of D-Day, and Rep. Weiner (D-NY) must feel like the allies are coming for him.
After exhausting efforts to deny he sent lewd photos to young women, Rep. Weiner has finally admitted what most people already knew … he did send them.
Now the story will shift to the possibility of resignation. Weiner has already said he won’t resign, but it may not be up to him.
All eyes are on Speaker Pelosi now. Will she break the cycle of Democrat moral hypocrisy, and demand Weiner resign?
Some will say she has no place to do so because Weiner didn’t break any laws. That may be, but neither did Mark Foley.
Foley, a Republican, was forced out of Congress because he engaged in lewd behavior (texts, and pictures) with congressional pages. While Republicans weren’t happy with his behavior it was Pelosi who led the charge to get Foley out of Congress. The Foley scandal was largely given credit for the Democrats taking the House. With congressional Democrat popularity at an all time low, they already risk losing to the GOP in the next election. Weinergate could be the nail in the coffin.
All that remains to be seen is if Pelosi will exercise the same vigor in pursuing Weiner as she did in pursuing Foley, or will she shatter what little moral standing she has left to protect him in an effort to hold on to power? After all, she’s already seen there is no reward for forcing a perceived pervert out of your own party. The GOP had no benefit from forcing Foley out of the House.
